Prior to opening night, you will have a certain amount of time to ‘get in’ to the space itself. Due to the high volume of shows in Cambridge, this time is limited and will depend on which venue you are using.

At the ADC Theatre, the usual schedule for a Main-Show is:

• Saturday Night – the lighting team rig all of their lights
• Sunday – the set team put up the set in the theatre
• Sunday Night – the lighting team focus the lights on the set
• Monday – the cast arrive for the technical rehearsal
• Tuesday – a dress rehearsal takes place before the show

The ‘Get-In’ will be run by the Technical Director – most of the company will come and help during the day as there is a lot to do.

The Stage Manager will run the technical rehearsal. This is a chance to put the show on the set for the first time with the lighting and sound, ensuring everything is time correctly and safely.

There is a lot to do in a short amount of time just before the show opens – it is a good idea to get in touch with the CUADC technician for advice on how to make the most of the time available.
